BMN is building out a suite of Cognitive Insights APIs that allow you to build user profiles based on an analysis of online textual communication, looking for insights into personality, emotional state, demographics, life stage and values. This suite component is focused on detecting the concepts that the user thinks about most often.

Function
A content analysis engine, Cognitive Insights: Themes is a REST API with the objective of understanding the most important concepts and main ideas from social media, SMS, and/or other forms of online communication. Cognitive Insights: Themes is a tool designed to return a list of concepts based on their importance vectors: the more important the concept is, the higher its vector value and the higher it is on the list. Keep in mind that a high vector value does not necessarily imply that a user explicitly mentions a given concept a certain number of times, but could also imply that a user might indirectly imply, or relate to, a given concept many times.
The Conceptual Engine
What makes our Cognitive Insights: Themes conceptual engine unique, is our cognitive approach. The perspective we take on conceptual analytics, allows us to look beyond the content of the text itself to see the larger picture of what a user is talking and thinking about.
